Us

Northwest Specialty Parts is a full service 3D printing shop located in British Columbia, Canada. 

 

We utilize various technologies including FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication), FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling), and CFC (Continuous Fibre Composite) allowing us to print with a wide variety of materials.

 

We can 3D print with various plastics and polymers to create a strong & lightweight representation of anything you can imagine!

 

We can also create carbon fibre 3D printed objects which are strong enough to replace metal, machined, or aluminium components.

What is 3D Printing?

3D printing or additive manufacturing is a process of making three dimensional objects from a digital file. Most often the creation of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes, such as the FDM or CFC processes.

 

FDM 3D printers work by superheating a material (virtually any thermoplastic) to its melting point, then laying down successive layers of material until the object is created. Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced cross-section of the object.

CFC 3D printers allow for fast production of strong and lightweight parts and components by adding Carbon fiber to the mix. This results in parts with numerous applications in a wide range of industries. In some cases, carbon fiber-enforced prints can even replace parts that are traditionally made of metal.

Our Processes

Northwest Specialty Parts uses numerous 3D printers of varying technology to provide a wide array of 3D printing services to all Canadians.

 

We utilize several models of FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) 3D printers, with the largest possessing a build size of almost 4ft cubed (1010x1010x1010mm)(39x39x39")

 

We also possess a Markforged Mark Two 3D printer capable of CFC (Continuous Fibre Composite) printing with carbon fibre reinforcement, for extremely strong &

lightweight parts and components.

We can also help you with design and basic engineering services in some cases. Just let us know what you want to build, and we will make it happen from design to 3D print.

While it was actually conceptualized in 1984, the practical applications of 3D printing or rapid prototyping have only begun to be discovered within the past 2 decades.

 

Commercial/Industrial interest in the technology has been steadily growing, and it is easy to see why the 3D printing  industry size is expected to double, reaching 41B by 2026.

 

Manufacturers across many industries have been utilizing 3D printing for a long time, printing spare parts, tools, jigs and fixtures, but also end-use parts that must withstand massive torsional and rotational forces. 

In recent years, the advent of relatively low cost 3D printing technology has democratized the industry, allowing smaller players such as                                to fill niche markets printing custom designed new or replacement components.
